When choosing your move day, try to set it on a weekday. Given that most people move on weekends, generally due to work and school obligations, this will help you to avoid a higher demand for moving services.

What Month?

Given that the majority of people will be waiting until the end of their leases prior to moving, the busiest time of month will be the beginning and the end. Therefore, to (once again) avoid higher demand for moving services, the middle of the month is the best time to move house.

What Season?

Given that it’s the time when most people are free from their work and school obligations, it seems only natural for summer to be the best time to move house. However, if you’re free from obligations, so are most other people. In terms of moving, that only means one thing: congestion. Trying to wind your way through a sea of vehicles can be difficult at the best of times, let alone when you have your entire life neatly packed behind you.

Whilst the ideal opposite would have to be winter, given that it’s the slowest period, the top choice has to be autumn. A perfectly quiet time as far as moving is concerned, autumn offers the ease of winter without the icy cold temperatures and a high chance of rain. It’s the season of transition for a reason.
