Keith Landells Kent arrives home from the war with only £120 to his name and a driven ambition. He set up Kent’s first base at his home in suburban Melbourne, from where ‘KL Kent Town and Country Removals’ began operating in 1946.

Keith borrows £10,000 to purchase a property in Burke Road Gardiner and open a furniture shop with a house on top.

Laying down the infrastructure for interstate moves with the establishment of a nationwide network.

Moving with the times, Kent attracts corporate customers, creates a global operation, and orders its first 400 containers.

A new home of Kent in Clayton, Victoria with the purchase of “the biggest and best warehouse in Australia ”, a 24,000 m2 purpose-built warehouse with state of the art facilities.

Change of ownership to Graham Kent and his son Wayne, and the purchase of a new facility in Sydney have played a pivotal role and facilitated the move of the Sydney Olympics.

Expansion into the digital sphere with new digital assets and a new face to the Kent brand.

Between 2016 and 2018, Kent Removals & Storage invested heavily in purpose built facility upgrades across Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane, laying the foundation for greater capacity and national consistency.

In 2019, as COVID-19 reshaped daily life, Kent was recognised as an essential service, helping Australians continue to move safely through uncertainty while doubling its operational capacity to meet demand.

In 2020, Kent secured its first major government contracts with the Northern Territory and Queensland Governments, marking a significant milestone in its national growth and reputation for reliability.

The business is driving a major technology transformation, upgrading systems, the website and operations teams to deliver on its promise to Make Life Easy for every customer.
