Schedule, Schedule, Schedule
Before you can start thinking about how to move with pets, it’s important to map out every other part of your transition. If you have everything planned ahead of time, this will give you more time to focus on the wellbeing of your pets. So, once you have your schedule all set up, you can put as much care and support into them as they need.
Scope the Area
The idea of moving to an unfamiliar place is a little scary, but for an animal that doesn’t understand why they’re being taken out of their habitat, it can be terrifying. So, if possible, making some trips to your new home with your pet ahead of time will give them a chance to familiarise themselves with their surroundings. That way, instead of suddenly being moved to an unknown place, they’re being moved to somewhere they recognise as safe and welcoming.
Travel Twists
If you have to drive extended distances to get to your new location, it’s best to make sure that your pitstops (hotels, motels, B&Bs, etc.) are pet-friendly well in advance.
