Packing wine glasses in the most important stage of the wine glass moving process. Wine glasses are very easily scratched, chipped and broken. For these reasons, higher quality packing materials and boxes are required to ensure that the wine glasses are not compromised in any way.

To move wine glasses safely higher, than usual packing supplies are required. Newspaper ink can rub off onto the wine glass, so soft white tissue is required to avoid this happening. Step 1: Clean The Wine Glasses

With items as delicate as wine glasses, it is important that the glasses are cleaned thoroughly. Dust and other small particles can actually produce small scratches on the glass during the move.

Step 2: Choose A Suitable Box

Using a box specifically designed for very fragile items is preferred. If you do not have one then a bit creativity will be required to make sure that the wine glasses will be protected during the move.

Step 3: Gather Packing Supplies

To move wine glasses safely, you will need soft white tissue, bubble wrap and tape. The tissue will be used to wrap the outside and to protect the inside of the bowl. The bubble wrap will provide padding and the tape will secure the packing together.

Step 4: Protect The Wine Glasses

  • Lay the white tissue paper on a flat service and place the wine glass horizontally on top.
  • Using a corner of the tissue paper, begin to roll the paper around the glass.
  • Before it is fully enclosed, place some tissue into the bowl so it fills the space.
  • Finish wrapping each glass in this manner and secure with a small piece of tape.
  • Now wrap each glass with a generous amount of bubble wrap to provide a layer of padding during the move.

Step 5: Prepare The Box

Depending on the type of box you have chosen to use, you may need to add additional packing to the bottom and sides of the box. Lay bubble wrap flat on the bottom and tape bubble wrap to the sides of the box. Once prepared, place the wine glasses into the box vertically as they are stronger this way than laid flat.

Step 6: Fill Empty Spaces

If there are any gaps in the box, use leftover bubble wrap to fill the sides and any space at the top of the box. This will add an extra layer of cushion and protection during the move.

Step 7: Secure The Box

Now that your wine glasses are safely positioned in the box you will need to secure the bottom and top with tape.

Step 8: Label The Box

This is beneficial if you have hired removalists. Writing “fragile” in clear black marker will let everyone know to treat this box with extra care when moving and loading into a van or truck.

Step 9: Position And Secure The Box Safely

When loading the box for the move. Make sure the box is not placed beneath anything else. Ideally, you would also have the box secured so that it doesn’t move around too much during the drive.
